Sebastopol police stopped drivers Saturday night at a checkpoint on Gravenstein Highway South just outside of downtown and found no suspected drunken drivers but they found eight unlicensed drivers.
The checkpoint ran from about 6 p.m. to 11:40 p.m. and was set up at Fellers Lane.
Officers talked to 973 drivers and gave 38 of those drivers a closer review, Officer Dave Harston said in a release.
The people driving without a license were cited and released.
Grant money from the California Office of Traffic Safety helped pay for the checkpoint.
