You missed an opportunity to recognize an outstanding local organization

in your Jan. 18 coverage of the wall made of recycled bottles at the Sonoma

County central landfill. You're not alone.

Garbage Reincarnation is known nationwide as one of the first and best

non-profit community recycling organizations, and Recycletown (the reuse

facility run by the organization under contract to the landfill authority) has

been widely emulated. Yet, most area residents know little about Garbage

Reincarnation.

Your coverage of the new bottle wall could have mentioned that it was

modelled on an original wall at Recycletown. Better yet, it could have

reported that Recycletown staff prepared the bottles and helped design the

wall. Or best of all, how about a feature story on Garbage Reincarnation and

the many contributions it makes to our community?
