Plane crash near Sonoma injures two

Two passengers were injured in a crash of a small plane near Sonoma-area vineyard.|

Two people were injured when a small plane crashed into a Sonoma-area vineyard Wednesday afternoon, according to a Sonoma County emergency fire dispatcher.

An 80-year-old man suffered injuries including to one leg. Immediate information wasn’t available on the second patient.

It wasn’t initially clear who was piloting the plane, what led to the crash and where the plane was headed.

At 2:17 p.m. a 911 caller reported a small, white plane had crash landed into a vineyard off of Ramal Road, at the Carneros Hill Winery. The property is southeast of Sonoma near the Napa County line.

Power lines also were knocked down in the crash.

The Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter and Schell-Vista firefighters responded.
