Napa woman dies in Highway 29 crash

A Napa woman died Saturday afternoon in a two-car crash, the Napa CHP said.

The crash took place on Highway 29 south of Trancas Street.

Jennifer Anne Bingham, 27, was driving a maroon Jeep Cherokee in one lane when her car drifted into the second lane for an unknown reason, according to a news release issued by the CHP. It’s not clear how fast she was driving, but her car steered into the path of a silver Audi S6 wagon, which was traveling in the other lane at about 65 mph.

The two cars struck, with the left front of the Audi hitting the right side of the Jeep, the CHP said.

That caused the Audi to go out of control, back across its original lane and into the center divide. The impact caused the Jeep to flip and land on the right passenger side.

Bingham suffered fatal injuries in the crash, the CHP said.

The Audi’s driver, Donald Lynn Veverka, 66, of Yountville, was not injured.

Traffic on southbound Highway 29 was blocked south of Trancas street for more than 2½ hours as police investigated.
