Firefighters and paramedics responding to a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon on River Road found the collision far less serious than initially expected, according to the CHP and fire dispatch reports.

Callers reported the crash at 2:02 p.m., saying it was near Odd Fellows Park Road and involved a pickup and sedan. Two ambulances initially were requested and reports included someone could be trapped in one of the vehicles.

But one ambulance quickly was canceled and the major injuries were reduced to minor injuries for three or four people.

The vehicles were off the roadway and traffic wasn’t blocked, according to initial reports.

Russian River and Cal Fire firefighters responded, as well as a Russian River fire ambulance.
