Lake County sheriff’s officials seized a collection of jewelry and coins found during a traffic stop that deputies suspect was stolen.

Sheriff’s officials released photographs of the jewelry in the hopes that the property’s owner might come forward to claim it.

The items include a gold coin collection and jewelry, such as a cross and medallions with the Virgin Mary and a variety of other symbols. One coin contains a note written on tape: “The only one we brought home from Reno, out of several 6-7-1979.”

Additional details about the circumstances of the traffic stop and why the coins and jewelry were taken were unavailable. A Sheriff’s Office spokesman didn’t return calls seeking more information.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 262-4200.
