A woman was injured Saturday evening after she fell down a cliff off Bodega Head, firefighters said.

The 23-year-old woman, whose name and hometown were not available, had been climbing rocks in the area when she slipped and landed on the beach below, said Josh Perucchi, a firefighter and paramedic in the Bodega Bay area.

“She was up a ways on the rocks,” he said Saturday night.

The Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter rescued her from the beach. She had fallen at least 20 feet, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

She was transported by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with “moderate injuries,” Perucchi said.

Both Bodega Bay Fire Protection and the Bodega Volunteer Fire Department responded to accident, as well as the sheriff’s office and State Parks personnel.
