Someone early Tuesday smashed through the front window of a downtown Santa Rosa jewelry store, went inside and burglarized the business, according to Santa Rosa police.
Officers responded to a 6:20 a.m. call at Darcy’s Fine Jewelers on Fourth Street near D Street and found the broken window and missing merchandise, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Phil Brazis said.
While such smash-and-grab crimes aren’t uncommon it has been a while since there has been this kind of a downtown crime.
“We haven’t experienced this at a jewelry store, this one is standing out a little bit,” said Brazis, who supervises property crime investigations.
Officers still were investigating and the amount taken wasn’t available Tuesday afternoon.
