Help bring music to Santa Rosa seniors

Waldorf student giving memory-enhancing iPod playlists to seniors with dementia|

The Summerfield Waldorf School in Santa Rosa is holding a fundraising dinner, auction and movie Saturday evening as part of student Kayla Wooldridge’s senior project to provide iPods to seniors with dementia at the Primrose Senior Living facility, 2080 Guerneville Road.

Wooldridge is becoming an ambassador for Music, Memory, Inspiration, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors with dementia by providing iPods with playlists of their favorite music. The goal is to help seniors regain memory and provide a sense of identity and comfort that is often lost when suffering from dementia.

The event in Sophia Hall at Summerfield Waldorf School, 655 Willowside Road in Santa Rosa, begins at 6 p.m. Seating is limited. The $75 ticket includes food, drinks and VIP seating at a screening of “Alive Inside.”

The documentary movie about Music, Memory, Inspiration won the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Tickets to the movie only are $20, $10 for students.

For information, call the Waldorf School at 575-7194.
