Holiday efforts, changes in Geyserville

Community collections continue for holiday food and gift collections, plus a new focus for Linda Schroeter’s studio.|

Geyserville New Tech Academy is collecting food for the Geyserville Christian Church. Last year the church gave 85 families food baskets. The Student Council is leading the efforts to help the families in need during the holidays by collecting canned goods.

Drop off your canned goods 8 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through Dec. 18 at Geyserville New Tech, 1300 Moody Lane. Call the school for information, 857-3592.

Geyserville Christian Church’s pastor Hilary Marckx has informally been using his “Pastor’s Fund” to help local needy families. If you would like to join him, take your unwrapped gifts, canned goods or cash to Marckx at 21300 Geyserville Ave.

Boxes with turkey dinner fixings and hand-chosen gifts will be delivered before Christmas to the families who have signed up.

An informal gathering of locals will join Marckx to help put the boxes together. If you would like to be part of the group, call 857-3473 to sign up.

Linda Schroeter’s studio has taken on a new focus and a new name. Russian River Atelier, at 21001 Geyserville Ave., Suite 201, is now a collaborative working and teaching art studio that is shared by professional painters with backgrounds in classical realism.

Workshops planned for 2015 include still-life painting, work from the live model, master-copies, landscape and frame making, and will range from one-day sessions to intensives.
