Fallen tree just misses car on Highway 12

A tree fell across Highway 12 in Santa Rosa early Tuesday afternoon, nearly hitting a passing car, as it came to rest across both highway lanes, according to emergency dispatch reports.

The tree fell on westbound lanes, near the westbound Highway 12/southbound Highway 101 connector, according to the CHP, near Highway 12 and E Street.

It fell at about 12:45 p.m. Initial reports indicated the tree fell onto a car, but dispatchers then were alerted the car had been missed.
