Authorities need help identifying a man who was found dead earlier this month near a creek in Rohnert Park.

The man was found on an access road that runs between Motel 6 and the Expressway Self Storage facility on Commerce Boulevard shortly after 2 p.m. on Jan. 2, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

An autopsy revealed the man, between the age of 40 and 55, died of natural causes, Sgt. Cecile Focha said.

“There was nothing suspicious about the scene and he did not appear to be the victim of foul play,” Focha said in a written statement.

Rohnert Park police previously said someone who worked at the storage facility found the man.

He had a full beard, was about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 220 pounds. He had brown hair and was balding, Focha said. He wore aviator-style prescription glasses, a brown zippered vest and camouflage jacket, Focha said.

A black bicycle with a child carrier was found near the body. Deputies also found a red tablet, camera, micro solar panel and journal that “contained various writings regarding math, physics, and science,” Focha said.

“There were other notes found on scrap pieces of paper indicating the decedent frequented libraries,” she said.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call the county coroner’s office at 565-5070.
