A fire caused minor damage to a Cloverdale home and two cars Tuesday evening, Cal Fire officials said.

The fire started in a carport, burned the two vehicles, and then spread into nearby vegetation parched from years of drought, Cal Fire Capt. Joe Fletcher said.

Multiple callers began reporting the fire at 5:32 p.m. at a residence on Preston Drive north of town on the east side of Highway 101.

Eight engines from Cal Fire, Cloverdale, Geyserville, Healdsburg and Hopland fire agencies were assisting the firefight, aided by a Cal Fire helicopter.

The fire was contained at less than acre by 6:44 p.m., according to a dispatcher.

“The wind is definitely a factor,” Fletcher said. “And every place is dry. Fire season is here, it never really left.”

No injuries were reported.
