San Francisco homeless man has skull smashed with a pipe

Police are searching for the man who viciously hit a San Francisco homeless man in the skull with a metal pipe earlier this week.|

SAN FRANCISCO — Police are searching for the man who viciously hit a San Francisco homeless man in the skull with a metal pipe earlier this week.

KPIX-TV reports (http://cbsloc.al/1CBJ5XE ) Friday that the incident occurred in front of a bar in the city's Tenderloin district on Wednesday night. The attack was captured by security cameras.

The homeless man's name and age were not released. He remains at San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition.

Officer Carlos Manfredi told KPIX that the attacker hit the homeless man so hard that the pipe fell out of his hand.

No arrests have been made.

Detectives are seeking additional video of the suspect from the many cameras in the neighborhood.
