A section of Petaluma-Point Reyes Road was closed Friday after a big-rig truck overturned near McEvoy Ranch, CHP officials said.

The road was closed between Novato Boulevard and San Antonio Road as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, Marin CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

The rig partially slid down a steep hill, overturning and blocking the westbound lane, Barclay said.

The accident was reported at 2 p.m. The call initially came in as an overturned tanker, but it later was determined to be a refrigerated truck carrying food and other supermarket goods, Barclay said.

The accident remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
