Landscape worker crushed by trucks, injured in Santa Rosa

A landscape company employee working Tuesday morning at an east Santa Rosa home apparently became pinned between two large work trucks and suffered major injuries, according to CHP and fire reports.

The man was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after he was treated at the Bennett View Drive property by firefighters and AMR paramedics.

Bennett Valley Fire Lt. Mike Tognozzi said firefighters were called to the home for a vehicle accident and arrived to find a man on the ground in extreme pain. The vehicles had been separated to free the man.

Firefighters were told he was a worker who’d become pinned between two large trucks, apparently as they were being backed in and parked.

The CHP initially responded, but the case was being directed to Cal OSHA and not under investigation by the highway patrol, according to a CHP spokesman. Cal OSHA investigates workplace injuries and fatalities.

The victim’s name wasn’t released, and his condition wasn’t available Tuesday afternoon. Initial reports indicated the victim was a 50-year-old man who was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The call for help came in at 7:50 a.m. to a home in the 4000 block of Bennett View Drive near Mount Taylor Drive, off rural Bennett Valley Road.

On Friday, Annapolis resident Curtis Baker was seriously injured when a 1-ton truck he was working on knocked him down and rolled over his legs. On Tuesday, the 32-year-old Baker was reportedly in good condition at Stanford Health Center.
