Healdsburg residents will have several opportunities to weigh in on the selection of a new Healdsburg Unified School District superintendent as the school board begins the process of replacing outgoing Superintendent Jeff Harding.

Harding was selected as the finalist for superintendent of the Mountain View Los Altos High School District and, assuming the board there affirms his selection next month, will leave Healdsburg at the end of the school year.

The board this week set a timeline for selecting a new leader, scheduled several community forums and agreed to create a survey to gather input from parents and community members.

“Community input is essential in finding a great fit for HUSD,” said board President Donna del Rey. “We will offer several community input opportunities, including a session in Spanish, along with an online survey, so that we can best understand our community’s expectations for our next superintendent.”

The first meeting was held Wednesday. Future meetings, all planned for 90 minutes, are set for: 7 p.m. Monday at the Healdsburg High School library (with Spanish translation) and at 4 and 7 p.m. April 29 at the Healdsburg High library.

An online survey is available through May 4. Visit the district website or www.surveymonkey.com/s/HUSDSuperintendent.

The Healdsburg district includes 1,700 students in two preschools, a charter elementary school, a traditional elementary school, a middle school, a traditional high school and an alternative high school.
