A Clearlake man is facing charges of felony animal cruelty for allegedly hurling to the ground a Labrador retriever-mix puppy.

The 9-month-old puppy, named Roxie, was brought to the Clearlake Veterinary Clinic on Friday with bones protruding from her broken jaw, Clearlake police reported Monday.

Police said they conducted an investigation and arrested Michael Truscott, 35, on suspicion of animal cruelty.

Fundraising efforts are underway to help pay for surgery to repair the damage inflicted on the dog, police said.

Donations can be made to the Clearlake Veterinary clinic or Lake County Animal Control, police said.
