The Biker Chicks of Sonoma County will hold a charity bicycle ride, dubbed “Ending the Cycle,” on Saturday.

Men and woman are encouraged to wear purple and join the group beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Prince Memorial Greenway in Santa Rosa. The group was founded in 2012 by Sonoma County Supervisor Shirlee Zane and the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and aims to encourage participation by women in cycling.

A $50 participation donation benefits the YWCA’s domestic violence programs in Sonoma County, including Safe House, the Adobe Project, A Special Place preschool and other programs.

Two rides, at 17 or 25 miles, are planned. The shorter ride is designed for less experienced riders, while the longer route features a moderate climb through the west county.
