Sonoma County sheriff’s detectives Friday were investigating a reported home-invasion robbery at a rural residence in Annapolis.

Two men, about 38 and 44 years old, were asleep when two armed and masked men pried open a front door and confronted them sometime between 1 and 2 a.m., Lt. Greg Miller said. The occupants said they were tied up and the robbers took cash and other items from the residence before leaving on foot, Miller said.

The men told authorities that both robbers had small-caliber handguns and one also had a knife, Miller said.

The Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the robbery at about 7:30 a.m. Friday, Miller said. The occupants later told authorities it took them some time to free themselves, and once they did they told a third person, and it was that person who called the Sheriff’s Office.

The violent crimes team was investigating the case.
