Two Sonoma County men have been punished for false passport-related offenses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Jesus Sanchez Bastidas, formerly of Santa Rosa, was convicted of applying for a passport and falsely stating he was born in the United States, the federal prosecutors said. He was sentenced to five months in prison.

Richard Emmett Monroe of Windsor was convicted of falsely stating his name on a passport application, the prosecutors said. He was sentenced to nine months in prison.

They are among more than 265 Bay Area residents who have been charged with false passport-related offenses since 2007. They were prosecuted as part of ongoing Diplomatic Security Service.
