Cloverdale have been named California’s third safest town in a report published this week by Niche.com.

St. Helena topped the list of 100 towns, with Calistoga ranked 12, Sonoma 38, Fort Bragg 58 and Napa 61.

FBI Uniform Crime data was analyzed for the 4,280 towns included in Niche’s database, and 1,763 had enough data to be ranked on the basis of murders, assaults, robberies, burglaries, larcenies and vehicle thefts committed per 100,000 residents.

Niche was founded in 2002 by Carnegie Mellon University students to rank and review U.S. colleges, expanding to include primary schools, cities and neighborhoods.
