Tawny Tesconi, the former Sonoma County Fair manager, has been appointed director of the county’s General Services Department.

Tesconi, 53, has been serving as interim director since November.

The department, with a $40 million annual budget and 119 employees, handles programs and maintenance for county-owned real estate, buildings, infrastructure and vehicles, as well as the county’s energy retrofit program.

Tesconi’s predecessor at General Services, Jose Obregon, retired last year. Tesconi has worked for the county since 2007, serving as the fair manager since 2008. She has a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis, where she studied agriculture and economics.

Her promotion comes with a $7,000-per-year pay raise, for a total annual salary of $154,000.
