Officers arrest 21 in Clearlake, checking probation, parole

Clearlake police say added staffing this year will help them conduct more sweeps.|

About two dozen Clearlake residents were arrested Monday during a multi-agency effort checking if people on probation and parole were following the law, Clearlake police said Wednesday.

Officers found many of the people were violating their regulations, including having drugs and weapons, Clearlake police Sgt. Martin Snyder said in a news release.

By the day’s end, 21 people were arrested for a variety of violations and several others were found to be wanted on arrest warrants. Of those, 12 were booked into the Lake County Jail and the rest were cited and released to appear later in court.

Snyder said probation and parole sweeps in Clearlake have been rare in recent years due to a lack of agency staffing but that such actions now will increase due to recent hires.

Clearlake and Lakeport police, Lake County probation and the CHP participated.

Snyder asked anyone with information about people violating the terms of their incarceration release to contact Clearlake police at 707-994-8251.
