A Santa Rosa man suspected of “fishing” for items in night deposit boxes at two Santa Rosa banks has been arrested on attempted burglary charges, police said Sunday.

John Giromni Jr., 27, was arrested early Friday after a witness reported seeing him try to steal from the U.S. Bank on Magowan Drive, Sgt. Robert Reynolds said.

Later, officers reviewed surveillance camera footage from Exchange Bank on Montgomery Drive and determined Giromini had been trying to get into that night deposit box as well, Reynolds said.

He was booked on two counts of attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools and probation violation.
