A low-pressure system moving across the state was bringing light rain Thursday to the drought-dry North Coast.

Showers started in Santa Rosa around noon, dampening streets and causing people to break out umbrellas.

Forecasters said the wet weather was rare for this time of year. It was expected to end in a few hours, said Diana Henderson of the National Weather Service.

“It’ll be cloudy and cool through the weekend but more rain is unlikely,” Henderson said.

Similar conditions were happening from the Oregon border to Monterey, she said.

Trace amounts of rain were reported at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, she said. Rohnert Park led Sonoma County with 0.35 inch of rain, according to AccuWeather.
