Rohnert Park police are no longer investigating the alleged attack of a woman jogging while pushing her baby in a stroller on a Rohnert Park creek trail last month.

The woman reported to police that she was robbed at knifepoint on June 16 along Hinebaugh Creek behind Evergreen Elementary in Rohnert Park. She told police that a man approached her with a knife and said, “Give me what’s important to you.” She said she escaped her attacker by kicking him in the groin.

But Rohnert Park police said they have found “several inconsistencies” with the woman’s story, and she is no longer cooperating with the investigation.

Sgt. Jeff Justice, with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, said in a news release that he cannot confirm that the incident occurred.

“We can find no evidence that there is any heightened threat to the community based on this report, and our creek paths our safe,” Justice said in a statement.
