An electrical problem may have started a fire Sunday afternoon that damaged a Rohnert Park home, Rohnert Park public safety officials said.

The owner of a residence at the Rancho Grande mobile home park off Snyder Lane called 911 at about 5:10 p.m. to report smoke, Sgt. Jeff Nicks said.

A Rohnert Park fire and patrol officer arrived and spotted light gray smoke coming from the space below the mobile home floor, Nick said. The owner was already outside of the Circulo San Blas residence and had turned off the circuit breaker.

Firefighters shut off other utilities and began extinguishing the fire, which took about 20 minutes, Nicks said. Rancho Adobe and Rincon Valley fire crews assisted.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the space below the home and prevented it from spreading to the living areas, Nicks said.
