Calistoga Road has reopened after a challenging morning for motorists obstructed by a big rig that was overturned near Gates Road for several hours Thursday, the CHP said.

The 8:50 a.m. crash affected travel for more than two hours in the area near Calistoga, Petrified Forest and Porter Creek roads.

The road was completely blocked for more than an hour before authorities opened it to eastbound travel leaving Santa Rosa.

The road was opened in both direction once the wreckage was cleared, the CHP said.

The driver of the semi appeared to escape significant injury but was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment, dispatchers said.
