A head-on collision on a rural west county road late Wednesday morning trapped one person and blocked the roadway, according to the CHP.

Two cars crashed into each other at about 11:50 a.m. on Mill Station Road near Ferguson Road. The area is west of Highway 116, between Sebastopol and Graton.

Initial reports indicated one driver drifted off the shoulder and over-corrected into the opposite lane but the crash remained under investigation.

The impact caused major damage to the two cars and trapped one driver whose legs were pinned by the crushed front end. Firefighters from Graton, Gold Ridge and Cal Fire responded. The victim was cut free and then transported to a hospital.

The two cars blocked the roadway for more than an hour, according to initial reports.

Further information regarding details of the crash weren’t available Wednesday afternoon from the CHP.

At about the same time as the Mill Station Road crash, a driver on Pleasant Hill Road ran into a pole near Mitchell Court. Sebastopol police Capt. James Conner said the crash appeared to be intentional and that injuries to the driver appeared to be minor.
