FRESNO — A group of nonprofit organizations and businesses has started a crowdfunding campaign to assist families affected by the state's drought and wildfires.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1JlfcMg ) the California Drought Relief Fund will support state relief organizations assisting families who are in need of water, primarily in the Central and Salinas valleys, and wildfire victims across the state.

The funds raised will be divided among three relief organizations. Self-Help Enterprises and the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water are providing households with clean water, temporary water storage tanks and arranging low-interest loans for new water well construction.

The California Fire Foundation supports firefighters and helps first responders provide cash relief to victims of fire and natural disaster.
