A fire erupted in a garage west of Sebastopol on Saturday night, setting off multiple explosions, authorities said.

Firefighters were first alerted at 8:27 p.m. to the blaze at a home on Hessel Avenue and Paulsen Lane, across the street from Hessel Church, according to dispatchers at Redcom, the county’s emergency fire dispatch center.

Multiple callers reported explosions and witnesses in the area reported seeing pillars of flame burst into the air.

The fire quickly engulfed the garage. It was unclear late Saturday if the residential portion of the structure was damaged. No one was hurt in the fire, dispatchers said.

Units from the Gold Ridge Fire Protection District led the firefight. The blaze extended into nearby fields but firefighters quickly got that under control, dispatchers said.

No other information was available Saturday night.
