Northern Californa duo arrested after allegedly posting video of their crimes online

SACRAMENTO — Two Northern California men were arrested after allegedly live-streaming their armed hunt for another man on a popular social media site.

The Sacramento Police say the two men took to the Periscope app to broadcast their Wednesday night search for a man thought to be with one of the suspect's girlfriends. Viewers submitted comments urging the men to continue searching for about an hour.

Sacramento Police spokeswoman Traci Trapani called the video of 28-year-old Damon Batson and Carlos Gonzalez, 25, "disturbing." At one point Trapani said Gonzalez is seen "recklessly" firing a gun.

Gonzalez also appears to show off several marijuana plants during the broadcast.

The pair is shown knocking on an apartment door and peering through a window before leaving without confronting anyone. Police said they are still unsure who the pair's intended victim may have been. No one was reported injured.

Police arrested the pair Thursday after detectives were tipped off about the Periscope clip. Police said they seized the gun believed to have been fired by Gonzalez.

Batson remains in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on suspicion of drug possession and felon in possession of a firearm. Gonzalez remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 on suspicion of firing a gun from a moving vehicle.

It was not known if either has been assigned or hired an attorney.
