Cyclist crashes down embankment at Sonoma Coast
A cyclist rode off the road, fell down an embankment and landed in a creek Thursday on a steep and winding route in the coastal hills, emergency officials said.
The crash was reported at 12:55 p.m. on Hauser Bridge Road near the Ratna Ling Retreat Center in a remote area near Salt Point State Park.
The cyclist fell between 20 and 50 feet, dispatchers said.
Timber Cove firefighters responded to the crash. Emergency officials called for a medical helicopter to transport the cyclist to a hospital.
