Tree blocks Stony Point Road

Morning commuters Tuesday heading along Stony Point Road found a large eucalyptus tree across their path near the Roblar Road intersection, according to the CHP.

The tree fell at about 7:45 a.m. across both lanes and Rancho Adobe firefighters were sent to move it out of the way.

It landed near the historic Washoe House restaurant and bar. Drivers went around the blockage by driving through the restaurant's parking lot, which allowed them to skirt the fallen tree.

Firefighters had it cut up and moved within about 15 minutes said Bob Griffith, Rancho Adobe fire engineer.

Stony Point Road is a major route between Santa Rosa and Petaluma and many drivers use it as an alternative to Highway 101.
