Damage too great to determine cause of Rohnert Park trailerfire

The cause of the Sunday trailer fire has yet to be determined due to the extent of the damage, officials said Tuesday.|

The cause of a Rohnert Park travel trailer fire that killed two dogs and destroyed the residence couldn’t be determined due to the amount of damage from the flames, a Rancho Adobe fire official said Tuesday.

Fire Capt. James Deurloo said Sunday night’s blaze started somewhere inside the 25-foot trailer but investigators weren’t able to pin down the cause.

The fire was reported at 9:45 p.m. and firefighters found the burning trailer down a long driveway off of Snyder Lane.

The bodies of two dogs, one pit bull and the other, which might also have been a pit bull, were found in a bedroom.

The resident wasn’t home and firefighters hadn’t heard from him as of Tuesday morning. The man reportedly was in the process of moving and had left his dogs in the trailer while he started the move, Deurloo said.

Firefighters were told the man was expected back soon to finish his move.

Deurloo estimated the fire caused $35,000 damage to the trailer and it’s contents, which were destroyed, a motorcycle and a truck.

Six fire engines from three agencies responded.
