An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a Santa Rosa man who failed to appear in court for what is suspected to be his sixth drunken-driving violation.
Judge Shelly Averill increased bail for Joe Albert Silva, 44, to $250,000. He had been free on a $100,000 bond.
Silva was arrested Wednesday night on Stony Point Road near Meacham Road after being pulled over for speeding, the CHP said.
He had a partially consumed bottle of whiskey on the passenger seat and a 24-ounce beer on the floor, Officer Jon Sloat said.
Silva has been previously convicted of drunken-driving five times. His most recent conviction was in San Joaquin County and his fourth was in Sonoma County, prosecutors said.
He was expected to be arraigned on his sixth alleged offense Tuesday but did not show up in court. Among the allegations are that he had a blood-alcohol level over .15 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
