Memorial set for John Sully, retired assistant Sonoma County sheriff

The retired law enforcement official died Nov. 9 after a long battle with cancer.|

A celebration of the life of retired Sonoma County Assistant Sheriff John Sully will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 5, at the Center for Spiritual Living on Occidental Road in Santa Rosa.

Sully worked nearly his entire career in law enforcement, starting out as a patrol officer with the San Francisco Police Department. He retired from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office in 1998.

The longtime resident of Sebastopol died Nov. 9 after fighting cancer for several years. He was 71.
