A Santa Rosa chiropractor has been arrested on suspicion of illegal sexual conduct with two teen girls, according to Santa Rosa police.

Suspect Daryoush “Darius” Mohammad Bunyad, 35, a Petaluma resident, runs a chiropractic business on E Street in downtown Santa Rosa, Sgt. Terry Anderson said Monday in a press release.

Anderson said an investigation into allegations of illegal sexual behavior by Bunyad originally began in late 2014, when two women went to police to describe incidents that occurred during their treatments with the chiropractor. That investigation didn’t result in an arrest.

But police began investigating Bunyad again in October when detectives heard from a high school counselor that a female student alleged that the chiropractor made inappropriate comments and touched her, Anderson said.

That teen told detectives that during sessions with Bunyad, he’d asked her to remove her shirt and bra, touched her bare breasts and made sexual comments, Anderson said.

A second teen also surfaced as a victim and detectives arrested Bunyad Friday evening. They booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on three charges - two counts of misdemeanor annoying or molesting a child and a felony count of sexual battery.

His bail was set at $100,000. He was not in custody Monday, apparently released after posting a bail bond.
