Four men arrested for drugs after neighbors alert Santa Rosa police

Four Santa Rosa men will face drug and weapons charges today after neighborhood complaints led police to suspect they were involved in selling heroin out of a rented home near Yulupa Avenue.

The men had $25,000 in cash, marijuana and a handgun when detectives arrested them Wednesday as they drove away from the home, Sgt. Steve Fraga said. Detectives believe they were on their way to Oakland to buy heroin, he said.

Isiah Cook, 32, and Jeremiah Nimmo, 21, had been renting the Dartmouth Drive home for at least a month, he said. Neighbors began noticing heavy traffic to and from the house during the day and night.

Mayette neighborhood residents began calling the Police Department's drug hotline to report the suspicious activity in mid-December.

At least one person reported seeing hand-to-hand drug transactions in front of the house and at the curb, police said.

On Wednesday, detectives stopped a vehicle leaving the home on the 3000 block of Dartmouth Drive just before 5 p.m. Cook and Nimmo were in the vehicle as well as two other men linked to drug sales, Max Foster, 22, and Mikel James, 27, both of Santa Rosa, police said.

Cook, Nimmo and James were being held Thursday on $250,000 bail at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of conspiracy to sell heroin and having a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

Cook, who has a prior robbery conviction, was also arrested on suspicion of having $25,000 linked to drug sales, officials said.

Foster was being held without bail because he was on probation, police said. Cook, James and Foster also face additional weapons charges.

Several neighbors said Thursday they'd noticed the lots of people coming and going from the house, but declined to speak about possible drug activity.

"The people in the neighborhood, they're scared of these guys," Fraga said.

The men were are to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today in Sonoma County Superior Court.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Santa Rosa Police Department's narcotics team at 565-5442.
