There was positive news following an MRI on the left knee of Cardinal Newman football-basketball player Damian Wallace.

The results showed no ligament damage, according to his stepfather, Ken Bohoman.

An earlier X-ray showed a crack in the tibia, which is below the knee.

“We’re not sure if surgery will be needed,” Bohoman said. “We’re hopeful he won’t be sidelined too long.”

Wallace, a star wide receiver on the football team, was injured during Saturday’s North Coast Section Division 4 championship game against Marin Catholic at Rancho Cotate High School.

Wallace, a junior, planned on joining the basketball squad after football and would have been a returning starter.
