A Santa Rosa man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of heroin and driving on a suspended license, the CHP said.
An officer recognized Shawn Laughman, 43, as he left Highway 101 south via the Corby Avenue offramp at 3:30 p.m. Laughman has a felony, the CHP said in a news release. He was wearing gloves at the time of the stop, which police said indicated that he may have been driving a stolen vehicle. The vehicle turned out not to be stolen but was unregistered even though it had plates displaying current tags.
Laughman, whose driver’s license is suspended, admitted to having a loaded syringe of heroin and a bag of methamphetamine in his pocket, the CHP said. He told the officer he was trying to get rid of some of the meth before pulling over, the CHP said.
Laughman was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
