PACIFICA - Police are looking for a man who shot his pregnant ex-girlfriend in the head outside an apartment in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pacifica Police Capt. Joe Spanheimer says a manhunt is underway for 25-year-old Ricardo Colindres who allegedly shot the unidentified woman Wednesday outside an apartment building in Pacifica.

Spanheimer says the woman was rushed to the hospital and that both she and her baby are in stable condition.

Spanheimer tells the San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bayareane.ws/1SQLoRF) did not give birth as reported earlier by police. He wouldn't say whether Colindres is the child's father.

Nearby schools were temporarily locked down while police searched the immediate area.

Police say Colindres should be considered armed and dangerous. They ask anyone with information about Colindres' whereabouts to contact Pacifica police.
