Sebastopol police were looking for an Oakland man they believe trashed his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, throwing clothes and cat litter on the floor and shoving items in her sink and toilet.

The woman reported Corey Holston, 25, was ransacking her Murphy Avenue apartment just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, Acting Chief James Connor said.

Officers arrived to find smoke coming from a tea basket that had been set on fire in the kitchen, broken valuables and items on the floor of every room, Connor said.

Holston was gone, he said.

The woman was moved for the night to an undisclosed location out of fear Holston would come back and hurt her or her daughter, Connor said.

Police were on the lookout for Holston, who is known to frequent bars in downtown Sebastopol, the acting chief said.
