Bay Area authorities arrest man with machete
SAN RAFAEL - Northern California authorities have arrested a 31-year-old Alabama man for allegedly wielding a machete after an argument over dog feces.
The Marin Independent Journal reports (http://bayareane.ws/1N7e2vK ) that the Thursday altercation occurred in Dogtown, an unincorporated community in western Marin County.
Marin County Sheriff's Lt. Doug Pittman said the suspect was with a group of tourists, and had let his dog out of the car.
The dog defecated. A resident came out to complain and the two argued. The man went to his car and came back with a two-foot machete, Pittman said. The suspect allegedly made a swiping motion with the machete.
The resident called police, who tracked down the suspect at a nearby beach parking lot.
The man said he got the machete because he feared for his safety.
