PALM DESERT - Authorities say a 5-month-old girl was killed after being thrown off a Porsche as it fell 200 feet down the side of a mountain road in Palm Desert.

The California Highway Patrol said the Porsche crashed through a barrier on State Route 74 Sunday and tumbled off the side of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

The infant's body was found near the vehicle. She was identified as Armani Green of Rancho Mirage.

A woman and man were in the Porsche: she was taken to the hospital for serious back injury while his injuries were less severe.

Officer Stephanie Hamilton told the Palm Springs Desert Sun speed was a factor in the crash. Investigators suspect the baby may have been sitting in someone's lap because the Porsche only has two seats.
