Petaluma check-cashing business robbed

A man walked into the business Monday afternoon, then brandished a knife and demanded money from an employee, police said.|

Petaluma police on Monday were searching for a man suspected of robbing a check-cashing store earlier in the day.

The man walked into the Check Into Cash business on the 200 block of South McDowell Boulevard in Petaluma at about 12:50 p.m., then brandished a knife and demanded money from an employee. He fled on foot, police said.

Witnesses described the man as between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a tan sweatshirt, shorts and a bandanna to hide his face, according to police.

Other details, including how much money was stolen and the type of knife the suspect used, were not disclosed.
