VACAVILLE - Police in the San Francisco Bay Area say a woman has been arrested on child abuse charges after her 5-month-old son was found with serious injuries, including a fractured skull.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1SQb3Vs) 29-year-old Patricia Steve was arrested Tuesday, two weeks after police were called to a motel in Vacaville by someone who reported the baby was having a seizure.

Vacaville Police Lt. Matt Lydon says Steve had been staying there with the baby's father and another child.

Lydon says the boy is in critical condition at the University of California, Davis medical center where he was taken two weeks ago with "serious and extensive" injuries.

He says that during the investigation detectives found evidence to implicate Steve, who was arrested in Sacramento and transported to the Solano County Jail, where she is being held without bail.
