A suspected gang member was arrested Thursday night as he walked down a Santa Rosa street carrying a loaded gun, police said.

Keichann Primus, 20, of Vallejo, was approached by police about 7:30 p.m. as he walked with a woman on West Ninth Street near Simpson Place, Sgt. Justin Farrington said.

The location is known as a high gang-crime area, Farrington said.

Primus admitted to officers he was on felony probation for stabbing someone in Solano County, the sergeant said.

A check of his record showed he had warrant for his arrest, Farrington said.

Primus was handcuffed and during a search, officers found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in his waistband.

Primus was booked into the Sonoma County jail on weapons and gang charges.
