Russian River Rose to present an array of garden events in May

The Russian River Rose Co. holds its final events of the season next month.

From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, is its annual 'Prelude to Mother's Day,' with self-guided garden tours. The following day, its 'Mother's Day Open Garden' is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Suggested $2 donation each day.

In addition to its 500-foot-long rose alleé, there is a new children's rose garden.

The next weekend, May 19 and 20, Russian River Rose will hold its only two 'Deluxe Gourmet Perfume Rose Harvest Tours.' Reservations are required. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and last three hours.

The tours will include harvesting roses from the perfume rose beds, watching rosarian and perfumer Mike Tolmasoff distill the roses into rose oil and water, sampling delicacies infused with rose water and viewing the antique atomizer museum collection. The tour is $75 per person.

Rohnert Park

School district offers digital safety workshops for parents

The Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District is hosting Digital Citizenship Parent Information Nights to help parents learn more about protecting students in the digital age. The workshops will discuss how schools are educating students in appropriate and safe use of electronic tools and the internet.

Topics covered include managing your student's screen time, multitasking and time management, cellphone restrictions and how to protect your student online, tips on how to handle difficult situations in the digital world, and online parent information and support.

Workshops are by grade. An elementary workshop at Evergreen Elementary School is from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday. An additional elementary workshop will be at Richard Crane Elementary School from 6-7:30 p.m. on May 1 .

The Middle School Workshop will be at Lawrence Jones Middle School from 6-7:30 p.m. May 1 in the school theater.
